After running for over 20 years and coaching for over 10, I've learned a few quick tips for a smooth, pain free cross country season...
Bring water to every practice and meet!

running
shoes are essential. Those PF Flyers may have worked for Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez but they won't cut it at CC.
Pack a trash bag in your CC duffel bag in case of rain. If it gets a little wet, at least your bag will stay dry!
Snacks, snacks, snacks! Apples, bananas, granola, crackers and peanut butter, pretzels, water, and Gatorade.
Weekend running is encouraged but only on weekends when there isn't already a meet on the schedule.
Run with a buddy, always!
